In all, you shared more than 400 stunning photos showcasing your summer activities both near and far. We’re excited to announce the final winners of our Summer Photo Contest. Thank you all for your submissions and for letting us enjoy your summer adventures right along with you.
Our August first-place winner is Tara Hollow, an administrative specialist in the Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs. Hollow’s winning photo captured her two sons “enjoying summer to the fullest in [their] backyard here in Alachua County during [their] ‘staycation.’”
Hollow won two tickets to a Men’s Basketball 2019–20 season game.
This month’s second-place winner is Beverly Dede, program director for the Office of Student Counseling & Development and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Community Health & Family Medicine. Dede shared the photo below of the Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona, Spain, which she and her husband Duane Dede, a clinical professor in the College of Public Health & Health Professions, recently visited on their honeymoon. For her winning photo, Dede won an XBOX One Afterglow Prismatic Wireless Headset.
And last, but not least, the third-place winner is Karen Whalen, assistant dean for Curricular Affairs and a clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research, who shared this photo from a recent trip to Ireland.
“The picture of this beautiful white horse was taken on the island of Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay off the coast of Ireland,” Whalen wrote. “We stopped to look at some old church ruins and found this beauty grazing in the pasture next door.”
For her photo, Whalen won Gator Dining meal vouchers and a reusable water bottle.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a photo this summer. You can view the full gallery of submissions on the UF at Work Facebook page. And special thanks to all of this year’s donors for their generous giveaways!
