Experience UF helps new faculty, professional staff connect with university and community
For the first time, this year’s cohort of incoming faculty and professional staff (at the assistant director level and above) are being supported through their transition to UF with help from a new program called Experience UF.
Experience UF is a yearlong academic program tailored for new faculty and professionals, especially those who have recently relocated to Gainesville. Each month, the program hosts a social networking event on campus or within the Gainesville community at which faculty and professional staff meet campus and community leaders as well as colleagues from across all disciplines. The program is a partnership between UF Human Resources (UFHR) and the Office of the Provost.
At the first networking event, held Sept. 12 at the Florida Museum of Natural History, attendees heard from UFHR Vice President Jodi Gentry and David Reed, curator at the Florida Museum and associate provost for External Faculty Honors and Awards, before an hour of networking. Chris Hass, UF’s associate provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, was also there to meet with attendees.
New faculty and professionals will receive an invitation from UFHR each month with the details of future social events. If you don’t receive an invitation or have questions, contact experienceuf@hr.ufl.edu. Faculty and professional staff new to UF can also learn more here.
