Social Media and Mental Health
An recent advisory from U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Ph.D., warned about the harm that social media may cause to children and adolescents. Research has also shown that smartphones connected to social media take a toll on the mental health of teenagers and college students by increasing anxiety and depression. A UF psychiatrist says there are ways to limit negative exposure and build their self-care safeguards while staying engaged.
