UF reveals Strategic Development Plan

After hundreds of interviews with local residents, the University of Florida took the next step toward forging a shared vision with the Gainesville community when it revealed the findings of its strategic development process. An eastward focus, a strengthened connection to downtown and housing shifts were among the recommendations.

Plaza of the Americas renovations underway

Renovations including new and widened pedestrian sidewalks, infrastructure improvements, plans to preserve the lawn and tree canopy, and more are expected to last about six months.


New process for reserving space on myUFL splash page

UFIT recently transferred management of the myUFL homepage, or “splash page,” to the Office of University Relations. The splash page was also upgraded to match the appearance of the university’s new web template launched earlier this year.


PPD to undertake campus-wide facility review

As part of an ongoing effort to drive excellence and attract the best and brightest faculty, staff and students, the UF Physical Plant Division is undertaking a campus-wide facility review that will include short-, mid- and long-term strategic planning initiatives.


Prudential Productivity Awards nominations deadline extended to Dec. 9

A joint effort of the Florida TaxWatch, the Florida Council of 100, and the State of Florida, the Prudential Productivity Awards are presented annually to honor state employees throughout Florida who have significantly increased productivity in delivering state services and products. In addition to honoring innovative and cost-saving accomplishments, the awards program recognizes the measurable contributions and added value of individuals and teams.


Nominations open for faculty university committees, boards and councils

Each year, the University of Florida offers faculty the opportunity to participate in its governance through various university committees, boards and councils. A list of these groups and a nomination form can be found at UF Faculty Senate website. Completed forms should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Dec. 16.


Genetics Institute faculty continue to garner national recognition

University of Florida Genetics Institute member Anna-Lisa Paul, PhD, has been named president-elect of the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research. The ASGSR is a collection of international researchers dedicated to promoting the study of “how living organisms and physical systems respond to gravity.”


Applications to participate in Research Administration & Financials Training Level One Cohort due Dec. 9

UF’s Division of Sponsored Programs and Contracts & Grants will once again offer a professional development series that provides research administrators throughout the university with “a lifeline” to the research community.
