Extended Leave of Absence Process for Faculty Members

Departments must submit the completed Extended Leave of Absence application on behalf of faculty members to University Benefits for review before the applications are sent to the Provost for approval. Once University Benefits confirms the application is complete, the application will be sent back to the faculty member’s department.


GatorGradCare Summer 2016 Enrollment is Open

The enrollment period for 2016 GatorGradCare Summer Only coverage ends May 16. GatorGradCare Summer Only enrollment is only for certain groups of students.


Employee wellness event will provide free biometric screenings

Do you know your numbers—blood pressure, glucose and BMI—and how they compare to recommended guidelines? A free wellness screening event to be held at various UF Health locations throughout May will provide benefits-eligible employees the opportunity to complete a free biometric screening.


"Wellness for Life" recordings now available

UF Human Resource Services is hosting Wellness for Life Week, May 2 – 6. Throughout the week, speakers present on a variety of topics to help you better prepare for retirement and maintain well-being as you age. Sessions from earlier this week focused financial wellness—including budgeting and savings, Social Security, health care costs, and retirement readiness—as well as emotional, social, and intellectual wellness. Several sessions were recorded and are now available for viewing.


Apply today for June mindfulness series

UF-UF Health Wellness will host a four-week “Tools for a Mindful Life” series led by Nancy Lasseter, Ed.S., LMHC, for faculty and staff interested in exploring mindfulness practices. The series is available at no cost to benefits-eligible employees. Enrollment is limited to 18 participants with applications being accepted through Friday, May 20.


More than 1,000 participated in spring walking challenge

GatorCare’s third team-based walking challenge drew 1,500 UF and UF Health employees who competed on a total of 164 teams. The walking challenge encouraged employees to get moving, especially during the work day, to increase wellness and boost employee morale with a little friendly competition.

UF Health to host free community health and wellness expo May 10

On Tuesday, May 10, UF Health will host a Community Health and Wellness Expo. The Expo will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Hilton UF Conference Center, 1714 SW 34th St., in Gainesville. The event will feature opportunities to learn about:
• Complementary medicine
• Stress reduction techniques
• Tips to healthier eating
and much more.


Special event for Girl Scouts, plus free admission for moms and military at FLMNH this month

This month’s events include: Bring Your Girl Scout to the Florida Museum, Mothers Receive Free Admission to the Butterfly Rainforest, “Wicked Plants,” and more.
