In recognition of World Mental Health Day, we invite you to explore upcoming events and resources designed to support your and your family’s mental well-being.
Upcoming Events
ComPsych Workshop: Register for a mental health awareness workshop, hosted by ComPsych on Oct. 10 at noon. Designed to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and to promote ways of supporting one another in the workplace, participants will learn signs and symptoms of distress and effective ways of providing support to co-workers.
A World Mental Health Day Conversation: A World Mental Health Day special event! Join Calm’s Chief Purpose Officer, Jay Shetty, and Head of Mindfulness, Tamara Levitt, for an inspiring conversation filled with insights and wisdom to help you make caring for your mental health a daily practice. The event takes place Oct. 10 at 2 p.m.
Calm Fundamentals for Building Resilience: In this workshop, participants will be introduced to how Calm can provide support in developing resilience. Alongside exploring the app’s features, you’ll also gain insights into enhancing your emotional resilience through awareness exercises. The event takes place Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
Destigmatizing Depression: Hosted by GatorCare, join Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Laura Magnuson on Oct. 17 at noon to debunk stigmas around depression. Participants will learn how to identify signs of depression as well as ways they can get help.
UF Resources
From guided meditations to fitness classes, financial literacy workshops, stress management apps and more — explore the variety of wellness programs, toolkits and resources available to faculty and staff on the Worklife at UF website.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP): The EAP offers someone to talk to and resources to consult whenever and wherever you need them. All UF faculty, staff, graduate assistants, non-student OPS employees, housestaff, residents, and postdoc associates as well as their household members are eligible to receive services.
On-campus counseling: Two on-campus counselors are available for free in-person therapy appointments. UF employees — including faculty, staff, graduate assistants, non-student OPS employees, housestaff, residents and postdoc associates — may schedule an appointment via the UF EAP website.

The Calm app features pre-recorded audio content designed to help manage stress, anxiety and insomnia. UF faculty and staff may sign up for a free Calm membership by completing this form.

Explore GatorCare’s Wellness Workshop library for free, on-demand emotional wellness webinars.
Faculty and staff who encounter students in distress are encouraged to explore the Counseling & Wellness Center, or CWC, website for resources they can share. Additionally, the Division of Student Life, Student Government and UFIT have launched the Whole Gator app, which connects the UF community with resources dedicated to supporting overall health and well-being.
Local and National Resources
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.
Alachua County Crisis Center: The Alachua County Crisis Center offers 24/7 crisis and suicide intervention phone counseling to all residents of Alachua County.
