Next Experience UF event to be held at Marston Science Library
Experience UF was introduced last fall as a way for faculty and professional staff new to the university to meet campus and community leaders as well as colleagues from throughout the university through a series of social networking events.
On March 14, Dean Judy Russell and the UF Libraries will host the next Experience UF event at the Marston Science Library to provide new faculty and professional staff with the opportunity to meet a specially selected group of interdisciplinary UF faculty who lead creative, innovative and change-making endeavors on UF’s campus and in the greater community.
“The Experience UF program, which is still evolving, has filled a void for new faculty and professionals,” said Tricia Bachus of UFHR Training & Organizational Development, who facilitates the program. “Those who attend get to meet other people who are new to the university and talk about the challenges and successes of navigating a new campus and a new living situation.”
Marston Science Library is home to a variety of state-of-the-art digital technologies available for faculty, staff and student use. In honor of UF’s 2019 celebration of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death and inspired by his spirit of innovation, Experience UF attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about the library’s virtual and augmented reality equipment, 3D printers, 360-degree cameras and other cutting-edge technology, which may spark creative teaching and research ideas or collaborations.
“The most important thing is that new UF community members don’t feel alone in their new journey,” said Bachus. “This program has highlighted that even small efforts at inclusion create a powerful sense of belonging within a much larger community, and that is priceless.”
